Things to do in Ocho Rios
Ocho Rios excursions are all about that perfect balance between getting amongst Jamaica’s natural attractions, with the opportunity for adventure never too far away. Heard of Dunn’s River Falls? We bet you have. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Jamaica and it’s right on the doorstep of Ocho Rios. Tours from Ocho Rios are more than just the falls though. Visitors will find a selection of waterfall excursions from the well-loved Dunn’s River to the more tranquil YS Falls, while the Blue Hole offers up jungle pools surrounded by lush mountains in an off-the-beaten-track Tarzan-esque adventure. Shaw Park Botanical Gardens rounds off the natural attractions with 25-acres of lily-topped ponds and tropical blooms situated high on a hilltop with views over the city.
When the day calls for a little more adrenaline, head to Rainforest Adventures Mystic Mountain where you can ATV, zipline, and even bobsled through the rainforest. Yaaman Adventure Park combines culture, adventure, and eco-activities including a mud buggy ride through five miles of lush trails. When you’re looking for a bit more peace than bustling Montego Bay but more action than sleepy Negril, Ocho Rios has got you covered.

About Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Ocho Rios can be split into three popular areas for tourists. Downtown is east of the bay and very close to the cruise terminal. Ocho Rios’ cruise port is the country’s largest and is well placed to try out Ocho Rios excursions as well as the best sites around Jamaica. Ocho Rios Bay Beach is just a two-minute walk from the cruise port as are the town’s craft markets and several popular restaurants and bars.
Mahogany Beach is located to the east of Ocho Rios Bay and this is where you’ll find a more secluded swimming area, hotels, bars, and restaurants. A drive inland through Fern Gully is also a must. This natural area was created when an earthquake destroyed a river bed which left a gorgeous lush area with ferns of all kinds. Walking is possible while in downtown Ocho Rios and travelers can use the clock tower as a landmark for navigation. Booking an Ocho Rios excursion will usually include transportation but taxis are always available to help you get around.
