There are several animal sanctuaries on Roatan where you can meet and hold sloths. These include Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout and Manawakie Eco Nature Park. Both of these parks are included in our curated range of Roatan sloth tours.
Yes, all of our tours are suitable for cruise visitors and we offer a whole range of Roatan sloth excursions where you can see and hold sloths, take photos, and enjoy connecting with this native animal. You will be collected from, and returned to, either Mahogany Bay or Coxen Hole cruise ports, making for an easy and convenient day onshore. You’ll also benefit from the ‘Back to Ship’ guarantee, so there’s no need to worry about returning in time for the departure of your boat.
Yes, all the sloths in Roatan’s sanctuaries and animal parks are treated very well. Members of staff are knowledgeable about the animals, they treat them kindly and with care, and the number of human interactions is limited each day to ensure the sloths have plenty of rest. Living in a sanctuary protects sloths from being hunted, which was traditionally a problem in Honduras.
